Jammu, Nov 7: Several delegations today called on Parliamentary Sub Committee of Union government and put forth their demands. According to press releases, several delegations namely SOS International, Secular Front of India, Movement for Justice to Refugees-1947 (MJR-1947) called on delegation and held detailed discussion and also submitted their memorandum of their demands. A delegation of SOS International led by Chairman Rajiv Chuni called on Sub Committee and put forth their demands including constitution of POK, DP Development Board, DPs should be accorded refugee status so that all benefits under National and International Laws and Rules accrue to them, reservation to wards of DPs across India, claims of moveable and immovable properties left behind in POK, should be registered without further loss of time, categorization of DPs from POK should be abolished, final settlement of issues the benefits such as monthly cash doles, ration money, reservation for wards in professional and technical colleges beside others. Moreover a delegation of Movement for Justice to Refugees-1947 (MJR-1947) led by office bearers JS Sudan, Om Parkash Khajuria apprised Sub-Committee about the long pending demands of refugees. A delegation led by former Minister and senior Congress leader Manjit Singh called on Committee appraised about the plight of refugees/displaced persons of 1947,1965 and 1971. During their interaction with the Committee, Singh demanded one time settlement of the refugees/displaced persons and tenancy right on the land, they were holding. A delegation of Kashmiri Pandits under "Secular Front of India", submitted memorandum to committee and demanded enhancement of relief, special employment package for KPs youth, interest free loan, medical facilities beside other. |
