| Court initiates contempt proceeding against SP Rural | | | Jammu, Mar 22 First Additional Munsiff (Forest) Jammu Muhammad Rafeeq Chak has initiated contempt proceedings against Superintendent of Police Rural, who was directed by the court to investigate the allegations of negligent death of a youth allegedly by the doctors of Achariya Shri College of Medical Sciences Jammu. The directions were passed in an application moved by one Muhammad Hanief, through his counsel Firdous A Tak, Advocate, alleging that his son, who was admitted at ASCOMS, died due to the medical negligence of the doctors, who have even refused to provide him the complete details of the treatment given to the deceased. The complainant alleged that his son was diagnosed HAPITITS when he was admitted in the hospital. Twenty-seven years old son of the complainant, identified as Muhammad Arif, allegedly died in the hospital after 36 days after he went into coma. The complainant further alleged that the doctors administered some wrong drugs upon his son which probably causes sever damage to his nervous system. He was shown to have died due to cardiac arrest in the autopsy report, he added. Hanief approached the concerned police station to register a case against ASCOM authorities for causing death by negligence. However, police refused to come to the rescue of the complainant forcing him to knock the doors of court. Sources told News Agency of Kashmir that the court issued directions to SP Rural that he should investigate the allegations and file report before the court by or before March 15, 2007. As no report was filed by the police, the complainant moved another application seeking fresh directions from the court. Sources revealed that the court took strong notice of the non-compliance of the court directions by the SP Rural and issued show-cause notice against him. The court has issued notice to the police officer asking him to show as why the court should not initiate contempt proceedings against him, added the sources.
