| After Baglihar, Uri phase II comes under scanner | | Pakistan Power Commissioner visits construction site | | Baramulla, Mar 22 After Baglihar, Pakistan has now started raising objections over the under execution Uri Phase II 480 MW Hydro Power Project complaining that the silt and mud released during the construction is creating problems at their power projects on the other side of the LOC. Informed sources told News Agency of Kashmir that a team headed by Pakistan Power Commissioner Jamiat Ali is on a visit to the Valley to assess the reasons for release of huge silt and mud that is creating problem in at 197 MW Kalam Arsit and 209 MW Kelan projects in Muzaffarabad. The Pakistan officials are camping at Uri for the last two days during which they visited the constructions site of Uri Phase II project and other power Projects including lower Jehlum and Uri first phase. Sources said that the Pakistan officials, according to sources, have taken samples of mud and silt from the construction site to match the same accumulated at their projects. The state Power development department officials are also accompanying the team form Pakistan. The visiting team, sources said has also sought details about the height of the dam being constructed for storing water to cross check its effect on the flow of water down the stream. The Uri second phase is being constructed by National Hydroelectricity Project Corporation for Jammu and Kashmir state government. |
