| Sports events create healthy atmosphere for young talent:Azad | | | Jammu, March 22 Congratulating players of second Police Martyrs Memorial Hockey Tournament 2007 particularly Punjab Sindh Bank team which won the tournament today, Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad said that such sports events provide an opportunity to the players to exhibit their sportsmanship besides promoting valuable interactions among the players of different states. Chief Minister was speaking at the conclusion of the tournament, which was held at K. K. Hakhu Stadium at Jammu. Hailing the efforts of the Director General of Police Mr. Gopal Sharma for organizing national level Police Sports events, Chief Minister asked him to hold such type of tournaments five to six times in a year so that sports activities in Jammu and Kashmir are catapulted. Final of the tournament was played between Punjab Police and Punjab Sindh Bank in which Punjab and Sindh Bank clinched the title by 2-1 margin. Later, Chief Minister gave the trophy to winning team and runners trophy to Punjab Police. He distributed mementos among various players. On the occasion, Mr. Gopal Sharma highlighted various measures taken for providing better infrastructure facilities to sports personnel. Others who were present on the occasion include, ADG Armed, Mr. P. S. Gill, ADG CID, Mr. Kuldip Khuda, Vigilance Commissioner Dr. Ashok Bhan, IGs, Mr. K. Rajindera, Dr. S. P. Vaid, Mr. Naveen Agarwal, Mr. Sheikh Owais, DIG Mr. Gulzar Singh Slathia, DIG Jammu Mr. Mohammad Shuban Lone, Director Youth Services and Sports Mr. Ravinder Gupta and other senior and civil officers. |
