| Mangat for strict enforcement of labour laws, welfare schemes | | | JAMMU, MARCH 22 Minister for Labour, Employment and Ladakh Affairs Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma has called for strict enforcement of labour laws and welfare schemes aimed at ameliorating the socio-economic condition of labour class. He was speaking at 69th meeting of Board of Trustees of Employees Provident Fund Organization held here today to review its functioning. Commissioner Secretary Labour Employment Mr. B. L. Nemish, Commissioner Secretary Industries and Commerce Mr. L. K. Jha, Labour Commissioner Mr. P. S. Betab, Director Budget Mr. Ravi Magotra, Mannaging Director JKI Mr. Raman Soni and Board of Trustees, President Chamber of Commerce Mr. Ram Sahai, President INUC J&K Mr.Shiv Kumar Sharma, President AITUC Mr. N. K. Dogra attended the function. The meeting took several decisions which included enhancement of rate of interest on CPF deposits from 8 percent to 8.5 percent for the next year, speed up recovery of Provident Fund contribution and administrative charges from defaulting public sector undertaking, initiate steps to invest provident money in banks which offers higher rate of interest. Insurance scheme for CPF subscribers amended to increase the ceiling of minimum and maximum from Rs 25000 and 35000 to Rs 50000 and Rs 75000 respectively. Minister who is also the chairman of the organization issued directions for departmental enquiry and recovery of misappropriated Provident Fund money within 3-months from the defaulters. Board of Trustees also agreed to the proposal for opening offices at Rajouri, Kishtwar, Kupwara, Udhampur and Anantnag in an internal arrangement. It was also decided that all workers would be covered under EPF scheme from first day of his service. Besides, Inspectors who will persistently perform excellence in bringing establishment and other business offices under the preview of EPF schemes would be encouraged suitably. Board also allowed some administrative reforms to improve work culture in the department for betterment of workers, labourers and employees connected with this organization. |
