| World Arbor Day celebrations | | | Rajouri March 22
Like other parts of the State, the World Arbor Day was celebrated at Behrot near here by Iqra Foundation.
Chief Executive of the Foundation, Shabir Ahmed Rather, on this occasion, launched a special plantation campaign and planted ceremonial sapling.
Addressing the gathering Rather gave background of the Arbor Day and urged upon the general public to launch massive plantation campaigns in nook and corner of the state to restore the lush green glory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Ms Roohi Naseem Mirza, who also spoke on occasion impressed upon the student community to keep themselves abreast with the climatic changes across the world and play their role of spreading the message of ‘Save the Mother World’ by educating masses about the importance of trees and pollution free environment.
Over 500 saplings of different species were distributed among the people for plantation.
