Business School lifts Men’ trophy in Table-Tennis

Business School lifted the Inter- Departmental Table-Tennis trophy whereas Law Deptt. and Political Science reached the next round of cricket in the ongoing Inter- Departmental Tournament being organized by the Department if Physical Education here today.
Inter-Departmental Men’s Table-Tennis Trophy
The Business School lifted the Men’s Table-Tennis trophy by defeating the History Department in the final by 3-0.
In the first final match Gurpreet Singh beat Umar Sharief by 11-09 and 11-08. The second match was won by Harpreet Singh by 11-06 and 14-12 against Mudassir Shafi. In the third Single encounter, Chandan Gupta thrashed Taqdeer Singh by 11-08 and 11-06.
Earlier, in the quarterfinal matches Business School beat Law Deptt by 3-0, History Deptt. defeat Law School by 3-1 and MCA trounced Punjbi Deptt by 3-0.
Meanwhile in the semifinal matches, Business School beat MCA in the keenly contested match and History beat Urdu by 3-0.
The matches were conducted by Ramesh Mangotra and Ravish Vaid.
Inter-Departmental Cricket Tourney
In the first match of the day, Political Science Department beat B.Ed. by 9 runs. After winning the toss, Pol. Science elected to bat first and scored 127 runs for the loss of nine wickets in allotted 20overs game. Jagdeep was the top scorer having 19 runs in 17deliveries by hitting one four. Paramjeet contributed 16 runs in 26 balls and struck one boundary.
Govind smashed 14runs with fours whereas Majid and Ajay were another two players of Pol.Science deptt who reached double figure and contributed 12 runs each. There were 28 extras in their inning. For B.Ed, Gurvinder bowled with tight line and length and gave 21 runs in 4 overs quota with two wickets. Vikas, Matinder Pal Singh and Neeraj also clinched two wickets each respectively.
While chasing the target, B.Ed team was bundled out in second last over on 118 runs. There were only two players in B.Ed innings who reached the double figures. Dheeraj and Sameer contributed 23 and 17 runs having one boundary each. Majid and Harpreet took three wickets each by giving 11 and 24runs respectively in 4overs quota for Pol. Science whereas Paramjeet claimed one wicket. There were 40 extras which helps B. Ed. to reached triple figure.
The second match was played between Law Deptt and Dogri Deptt which was won by 77runs. Law Deptt. after winning the toss, elected to bat first and scored 166runs in 20overs with 37extras. Nitesh Mahajan and Ajit Pal Singh scored 58runs and 26runs respectively. For Dogri Deptt. Parminder and Suresh clinched two and one wickets each.
While following the target of 167runs, Dogri Deptt. bowled out at 89runs in 16.3overs. Parvinder Singh was the highest scorer and struck 24runs, Shalinder Slathia and Ajit Pal took four and two wickets respectively.
Naveen, Mohit and Vikrant were the official umpires in the matches. Satpal was the scorer.
