| Kashmiri model back with a bang | | | NEW DELHI, MAR 24 Tariq Dar, a Kashmiri youth, became suddenly infamous last year after he was accused of being a terrorist by the Delhi police. Suddenly, again, he is now a famous person. Tariq, Kashmiri model, is back with a bang. And the stage could not get bigger than JJ Valaya's fashion show at the Wills Lifestyle Indian Fashion Week. He has surely come a long way by breaking into the Indian fashion scene and walking the ramp for one of the country's best designers. Says Tariq Dar: " I can't believe it. This is what I love doing and am glad I am getting to do what I am doing. That time I was like an animal in a small cage". Tariq was has been working as a model in Bangladesh. And ironic as it might sound, it was because of his 90-day detention in Delhi, the police allegedly bungling the investigation and mistaking him for someone else, that Tariq got noticed in India and by the Indian fashion industry. And JJ Valaya had this to say vis-a-vis the Kashmiri model: "A friend recommended Tariq to me. He met me and I decided to work with him". From the jail to the ramp, from behind the bars to the flash bulbs of the Fashion Week, Tariq’s is indeed a remarkable story. His life was never the same after the detention. But the model, who is now picking up the pieces of his life together, has put bad times behind him and is moving to give life another shot. |
