| Man arrested with 50 live cartridges at Airport | | | Jammu, Mar 24 Panic gripped Jammu Airport, this afternoon, when an Indian Airlines passenger on way to Leh was arrested with fifty live cartridges by the security personnel on guard duty. Official sources informed that the security personnel deployed on the airport arrested a man who was to board Jammu-Leh flight. Giving details, a senior police officer told NAK that one Sham Lal son of Ramolla resident of Udhampur was among the passengers who had to board Jammu-Leh flight when he was arrested. When the luggage of Lal was examined in the X-Ray machine police noticed a box inside and asked him to open the bag. On opening the bag police noticed 50 live cartridges of .22 bore gun. The suspect was immediately taken into custody by Anti-Hijacking wing of Jammu police who subjected him to sustained interrogation. It was reliably learnt that the accused during his questioning has revealed that one of his friend from Leh had handed over a packed bag containing these cartages. “My friend has already flown to Leh with licensed weapon and I was unaware about the cartridges in the bag”, the accused told police. “Sham Lal did not know that he is carrying live cartridges along with him”, a security official said adding when he was arrested he got stunt as why he was being taken into custody. A report from Leh Police in this regard was awaited, so as to ascertain the facts and the authenticity of the person whom Sham Lal named. Police has registered a case FIR No 30 of 2007 under section 3/25 of Arms Act.
