| CB summons RTO staff, questions transport officials | | Work paralysed in RTO office | | Jammu, Mar 24 Entire staff of Regional Transport Office Jammu was questioned by Crime Branch of Jammu and Kashmir Police, which is investigating a case of fake Registration Certificate racket, here today. Sources revealed that the work in RTO Office remained paralysed throughout the day today as all most all the staff members were being questioned at Crime Branch Office, Jammu. It was reliably learnt that on Friday the Crime Branch questioned at least dozen employees of the office in connection with the preparation of a fake registration certificate in 1991. The police again summoned the staff members, including cashiers today, to its office along with the record, sources said, on the condition of anonymity. Sources said that the no work was done in the RTO office today as all the cash counters remained closed. “I have been waiting here since morning but the counter has not been opened till now”, Rohit Kumar of Janipur area said. The daily collection of fee and token charges of the office runs more than rupees thirty lakh rupees and the non-functioning of the office has reportedly caused a huge loss to the state exchequer. Crime Branch, sources said, was investigating a case registered under FIR No 11 of 2005 following the seizer of a fake registration certificate of 1991 model vehicle. “The official record shows that the vehicle registered under the particular number is a motorcycle, however, the certificate seized by the police of the same number is of a truck”, added the sources.
