| Stranded passengers hold protest, disrupt traffic | | | Kishtwar, Mar 24 More than three-hundred stranded passengers of Marwah, Dachan and Warwan area hold a protest demonstration, disrupting vehicular movement for more than three hours, here today. The stranded passenger assembled outside the office of Sub Divisional Magistrate this morning and staged a protest demonstration. Shouting slogans against the government the protestors were demanding that immediate steps should be taken for their airlift to their villages as all the road links were blocked due to the continuous rains and snow fall. The protestors soon blocked the main road disrupting vehicular movement on the busy road. Sensing trouble, shopkeepers, in the nearby markets, down their shutters in the apprehension of any unwanted incident. The protesters alleged that the administration was not paying any ear to their problems and they were suffering badly. “The officials are calling us every day on the name of verification with the assurances that we would be sent through army helicopters once our names are cleared by police” Ghulam Mohammad of Qaderna Marwah told News Agency of Kashmir. Another resident Mohd Shafi said that more than 400 persons including children and women are running from pillar to post to get official help but till date nothing has been done. “Government as well as administration has failed to make arrangements for us” he added. Later MLA Kishtwar Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo also visited the spot. The MLA’s attempt to pacify the protestors did not yield any result. The protestors, however, dispersed peacefully when the senior official of local administration intervened and assured that all possible steps were being taken to airlift stranded passengers to their destinations.
