Police posted outside Dhoni's residence
3/24/2007 11:43:06 PM
RANCHI, MAR 24
Ranchi police today posted armed personnel to guard the residence of cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni coming up here to thwart a repeat of their act of protest in view of India's defeat in the World Cup match against Sri Lanka.
Dhoni's parents stay in the house and on Sunday some protesters had dislodged bricks kept for construction and burnt an effigy of the cricketer to protest against his cheap dismissal in the match against Bangladesh.
"Vigil has already been there since Sunday's incident and the security was increased to prevent any untoward incident during the day," city superintendent of police Richard Lakra told Early times reporter.
Though he said he had no information that the cricketer's effigy was burnt anywhere in the city today, there were reports of one such occurence at the busy Elbert Ekka Chowk where some people protested against Team India's pathetic performance for the second time in three matches in the World Cup.
