| Scholarships distributed to rural and border students | | | Early Times Reporter
Jammu | March 24
171 students of 51 schools of rural areas of Jammu province were given scholarships by chief guest Mangat Ram Sharma, Minister of Health and Education.
The function was organized by the Harbans Bhalla Educational Trust and Roshan Educational Society. The total amount distributed today in the form of scholarships was Rs 3 lakh 25 thousands.
The Trust and Society are paying annual scholarships and conducting various other child welfare schemes for the children belonging to economically struggling and educationally backward families for the past many years.
The trust lays stress on the educational development of the girl child to ensure that benefit passes to the whole family, as per the release.
Speaking on this occasion, Pandit Mangat Ram Sharma advised the students to make full use of the scholarship and other supportive measures being provided to them by trust. He further added that such organizations could play a big role in reducing the wide spread illiteracy in the state.
The managing trustee of the trust Kunil Bhalla also the president of the Roshan Educational Society said that the trust believes in “Education for All”.
