| DDC exhorts bankers to extend helping hand Small Entrepreneurs | | | Kathua, March 24 A District level Review Committee District Consultative Committee meeting was held at PWD guest HouseHiranagar today to review the status of Credits advanced by various banks in the district for the quarter ending December, 2006. District Development Commissioner, Kathua. Ms. Sarita Chauhan Presided over the meeting. Additional District Development Officer, Kathua Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari, Lead Bank Officer, Mr. Tarseem Lal, DDM, NABARD, Mr. L.R. Dogra, Bankers, BDOs, Tehsildar and officers of line departments were present on the occasion. It was apprised in the meeting that against total annual target of 16877 beneficiaries with an outlay of Rs. 8475. 92 lakhs, an achievement of 1414 cases with financial outlay of Rs. 4795.16 lakhs was made which comes to 56.57 % of the proposed target for the financial year, 2006-07. The percentage of the achievement during the corresponding period of the last financial year was 59%. The JCC bank took the lead by financing 1605 cases up to the quarter followed by J&K Bank with 964 cases, PNB with 896 cases, JRB with 494 cases, SBI with 357 cases, CBI with 50 cases and UCO bank with 48 cases. Under the Agriculture Sector, against target of 14172 cases with financial outlay of Rs. 4115.73 lakhs during the current financial year, 2006-07, 2641 beneficiaries were financed an amount of Rs. 1199.37 lakhs. Up to the current quarter. Under the Non farm sector and SSI sector, against annual target of 610 cases with financial outlay of Rs. 710.190 lakhs, 255 beneficiaries were provided banking finance to the tune of Rs.1203.46 lakhs Under Services Sector, the achievements during the period under review have been 65.54 % against 66 % during the corresponding period of last year. A perusal reveals that total deposits of Rs. 8697841 lakhs with all the banks in Kathua district, only Rs. 33405.24 lakhs have been deployed in the entire district through various Government, direct schemes of the banks. . Thus CD ratio in the district comes to 38.41%. Speaking on the occasion, DDC, Ms Sarita Chauhan enjoined upon the bankers and officers of the line departments to strengthen the awareness/sensitization aspect of the various schemes launched by the Government for the upliftment of weaker sections of the society. She exhorted upon the bankers to make early disbursements of the sponsored cases by simplifying the loaning producture and ensure on spot disbursements by utilizing the services of Agriculture department, NABARD and NGOs.
