Rs 7 cr to be utilized on upgradation of Gulmarg, Pahalgam golf courses: Dilawar

Golfing and water sports will be focussed tourism activities during the coming summer season in Kashmir valley. For the purpose water sports centre at SKICC will be reviewed besides upgrading of Golf Courses at Gulmarg and Pahalgam will be undertaken soon for which central government has provided Rs 5 crore and Rs 2 crore respectively.
This was stated by Minister for Tourism Mr. Mohammad Dilawar Mir during inspection of Royal Golf Course here today.
The Minister was accompanied by Secretary PHE Mr. Mehboob Iqbal and other senior officers.
Minister during his tour said that private cooperative houses would be motivated to hold golf championships in the valley. He said that government has formulated a comprehensive plan for upgradation of Golf Course of the valley upto international standard.
Later, the Minister took a meeting with prominent trade and travel members and discussed various tourism promotions with them.

Khilat-i-Sheikul Alam award to noted litterateurs
Baramulla, March 24 (INFO) – District Information Centre Baramulla organized a scintillating function in collaboration with Charag Foundation Baramulla at Sherwani Hall here today to bestow Khilat-i-Sheikhul Alam award to two noted litterateurs Mr. Abdul Khalik Shamus and Bashir Charag.
Instituted by Information Department, the award is given to poets, litterateurs and theatre performers for promotion of literary activities. Abdul Khalik was selected for the award on the basis of authoring ‘Rehbar-i-Mal’ which was jointly released by Rafiq Raz, Zarief Ahmad Zarief and Satish Vimal on the occasion.
The department also organized a Mushaira on the occasion in which famous poets including Professor Rehman Rahi, Rafiq Raz, Zarief Ahmad Zarief, Satish Vimal, Shahid Dilnavi, Tahira Mir, Khurshid Kureshi, Farooq Athar and others recited their versions and enthralled the jam packed audience.
Speaking on the occasion Professor Rehman Rahi who presided over the function appreciated Information Department for organizing literary functions, providing platform to poets for promoting their talent. He said such activities not only encourage budding poets but also entertain art and literature lovers and promoters interest among people.
