| Demilitantization, not demilitarization required: JDU | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | March 25 State unit of Janta Dal United (JDU) today said that the need of the time is to address militancy and not the military. Addressing a press conference, here today, state unit JDU president, Inder Mohinder Tar Singh said what is required is de-militant-isation and not the demilitarization as being ‘fantasized’ by PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. He said that Mufti was befooling the masses with the slogans of troops’ reduction and demilitarization. He also condemned the soft attitude of the centre towards Muftis. The prime minister should take firm stand on this issue, Singh sought. He added that the stand pertaining to the national security should be taken very sensibly and responsibly and no compromises should be made in this regard. Singh said it is not Mufti or any politician who has to decide on troops’ reduction. Let the common man come forward and ask for the withdrawal of the troops. Singh also condemned Mendhar episode and said that there is total failure of administration and the public servants are ineffective and inefficient. Those who were presented on this occasion included Dr. A.K. Kharu Sr. vice president of the party, Vijay Kumar district president, Jammu, S. Jabar Singh President Yuva Janta Dal, Nageena Akhtar, S.P. Magotra, Shafi Mohd. Syed, Satpal Sharma and Asha Koul.
