| Information Department organizes Urdu Mushaira | | | JAMMU, MARCH 25
District Information Centre Poonch in collaboration with Krishen Chander Memorial Bazam-e-Adab today Surankote organized an Urdu Mushaira at Govt. Middle School premises. President Krishen Chander Memorial Bazam-e-Adab Mr. Mohammad Ayub Shabnam presided while Mr. M. N. Qureshi General Secretary of Bazam conducted the Mushaira on the stage. As many as 17 poets drawn from tehsils of district Poonch presented their pursuits on the occasion.
Renowned poet Mr. Hassam-ud-Din Betab captivated the audience with his Gazals whereas Mr. Noor Mohammad Noor a versatile poet infused patriotic spirit among the budding poets.
Others who recited poetry included Mr. Khursheed Kirmani, Sheikh Khalid Karrar, Mr. Muneer Khan, Mr. Mastoor Zargar, Mr. Ved Parkash Rahi, Mr. Ahtesham Bhat, Mr. Abdul Gani Jagal, Mr. N. H. Qureshi, Dr. Amir Hussian Shah, Mir Mohammad Mir, Mr. Mehmood Tahir presented their poetry on peace, communal fertile harmony, national integration, wit and honour and moral upgradation.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mohammad Ayub Shabnam said that the soil of district Poonch has always produced renowned poets, administrators, politicians, writers like Mr. Gulzari Lal Nanda, Mr. Krishan Chander, Mr. Dina Nath Rafiq, Maj. Chirag Hasrat, S. Prithpaul Singh Betab etc. But during last 18 years of turmoil this class has suffered adversely. He appealed the emerging writers and poets to come forward and help silent the boom of guns with their pen, which has always proved stronger then guns.
He thanked the Information Department for organising this literary Mushaira and hoped that in future the department would organize a mega poetic bonanza during mid of summer-20-07 when the beautiful valley will bloom in its full swing.
