| North-Eastern State artists present folk dances | | | Jammu March 25 The artists from the North-Eastern State presented their second folk dance performance at Abhinav Theatre here today. The program was jointly organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and North Zone Cultural Centre, Patialia. A galaxy of prominent persons, besides a large gathering witnessed the program. Minister for Power Rigzin Zora was the chief guest while Dr.Rafeeq Masoodi, Secretary Cultural Academy, was also present on the occasion. The artists performed their folk dances including ‘Sarmumi Nati’ and ‘Singhtu’, the popular folk dances of Himachal Pradesh, Assam’s ‘Ozadol Wadan’ and ‘Bohar Behw,’ while artists from Haryana and Mizoram presented ‘Panihari’ and ‘Charan and Sarlanki’ respectively.. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister appreciated the artists from Mizoram, Assam, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, for their superb folk performances. He said witnessing this mega show one can feel the great India’s ancient and rich cultural traditions adding that organizing such inter-state cultural interactions would help promote unity in diversity. Secretary Cultural Academy giving resume of the activities said that the Academy is planning to make such activities a regular feature so that the ancient cultural richness can be showcased on the global front. Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Editor Punjabi Cultural Academy presented vote of thanks, while Rajni Anubhav conducted the proceedings.
