| Former SPO's body recovered | | | SRINAGAR, MAR 25 Body of a former Special Police Officer (SPO) was recovered from Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir today, a day after he was abducted by militants, police said. The body of former SPO Khurshid Ahmad Gancho was recovered from the open fields of Nowpora village in Awantipora area of Pulwama district, a police spokesman said. Gancho, a resident of Trenz-Shopian, had been kidnapped by unidentified militants from Beigund-Tral during the intervening night of March 23 and 24. Meanwhile, residents of Niloora village of Pulwama district overpowered two masked youth after they broke into a house and demanded money posing as militants. Identified as Nissar Ahmad and Mohammad Yousuf, the duo intruded into the house of one Mohammad Maqbool Wani at Niloora last night and demanded Rs 10,000 from him, official sources said today. However, the inmates of the house raised hue and cry attracting the attention of their neighbours who immediately rushed to the scene and overpowered both the intruders. The sources said they were beaten up by the mob and later handed over to police for legal action, the sources added.
