Compensation demanded for residents of Banihal

Due to the recent heavy rains and snowfall, the people of Banihal have suffered massive losses to their houses, standing crops, fruit trees, agricultural land and live stock and as such they should be compensated for the same. This was stated today by Congress leader from Banihal, Sajjad Shaheen.
In a press release today, the congress leader said that dozens of houses have been damaged in Krawa, Banihal including a graveyard and two school buildings of the same village due to sinking of
land. Similarly about 50 houses have been badly damaged due to sinking of a major chunk of land In Sarbgani. The Inhabitants living In these houses have shifted to safer places as their houses have been damaged and major cracks have developed In their houses.
Shaheen demanded that government should constitute a high level team of revenue, Agriculture, Horticulture and allied departments to assess the damage caused in Banihal, Nowgam Thathar, Krawa, Amkoot, Chapnari, Chamalwas, Khari, Mohu Mangat, Neel, Sarbagni, Pogal, Ukharhall, Mallgam, Alinbass and Kunda besides other areas of Tehsil Banihal.
He further demanded that the affected people should be provided immediate compensation for the damages suffered by them.
He further said that due to heavy floods in River Bichlari and other small Nallahs, lot of agricultural land has been damaged. The River Bichlari has also posed a big threat to Shops, Houses and Paddy land of Banihal town as the River passes through main Banihal town.
