| Cultural interaction plays important role to promote cultural unity in diversity: Jora | | | Jammu, March 26 Minister for Power Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora has said that super folk performances presented by Eastern States Folk Dance artists depict the great India’s ancient and rich cultural traditions and said such Inter State Cultural Interaction play an important role to promote our Indian culture. The Minister was addressing a cultural bonanza jointly organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and languages and North Zone Cultural Centre Patiala at Abhinav Theatre here last evening. Secretary Cultural Academy was also present on the occasion. Mr. Jora appreciated the performance of Mizoram, Assam, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh on this occasion. The artists from North-Eastern states who performed their Folk Dances include SARMUMI NATI and SINGHTU the popular folk dances of Himachal Pradesh. Assam troupe performed OZADOL WADAN and BOHAR BEHW. Haryana presented GHUMMARI and PANIHARI, Mizoram Cultural Troupe performed CHARAN and SARLANKI, the famous folk dances of Mizoram. These artists were highly applauded by the audience. Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Editor Punjabi Cultural Academy presented vote of thanks while Mrs. Rajni Anubhav conducted the proceedings in a befitting manner. Among others Additional Secretary Mr. T R Sharma, Mrs. Shamima Akhter, SOCA (Gr-I), Mr. Haroon Rashid, Deputy Secretary, J&K Cultural Academy and prominent citizens and artists were also present on the occasion.
