| J&K people are secular and tolerant : Mangat | | | Jammu, March 26 Minister for Health and Medical Education Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma has stressed the need for promoting composite culture of the state and popularizing it among the new generation. He said that our culture which is based on secular and democratic principles need to be instilled among youth for their proper grooming. Mr. Sharma was speaking at a cultural function organized by Vadhata Nagar Branch of Cultural Welfare Club J&K Srinagar in collaboration with State Academy of Art Culture and Languages Jammu. Describing the state as India in miniature, Mr. Sharma said not- withstanding different ethnic, regional and lingual diversities, the people of J&K are completely united with secular and tolerant attitude. He said that festivals of all committees are jointly celebrated by the people of the state, showing total cultural unity and religious tolerance. He said artists, writers, poets, therefore, have added responsibility to strengthen their traditions for overall integrity and development of the youth. Impressed by the performance of young artists in the cultural programme, the Minister announced Rs. 11000 as refreshment for them. He also advocated for their involvement into ensuing mega Jammu festival. Legislators, Mr. Raman Balla, Mrs. Khem Lata Wakhloo and Mr. Tasaduq Hussain also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the policies and programmes of the present government. President, Culture Welfare Club, Dara Mr. Irshad Ahmad Khan presented vote of thanks on the occasion. Prominent citizens, cultural lovers, students and children attended the function.
