| Charak conducts extensive tour of Jammu City | | | JAMMU, MARCH 26 During his extensive tour of Jammu City today, the Minister for Roads and Buildings Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak has said that government has formulated a massive beautification plan for Jammu City. The area visited by the Minister include Jewal, Indira Chowk, Shalimar, Raghunath Bazar, Residency Road, Parade, Moti Bazar etc. He said that an amount of Rs 5 lakh would be spent on the macadamization of Jewal Chowk and work is presently going apace. Mr. Charak also visited Ranbir Market where passenger shed has been constructed for the facility of people. He said 11 such sheds have been constructed at various places in Jammu City for the purpose involving expenditure of Rs 22 lakh. The sheds are at Ranbir Market, Exhibition Chowk, Shalimar Chowk, Canal road, St. Peter School, Kala Kendra, near Polytechnic, Ashia Hotel, Gole Market, Main Stop Gandhi Nagar and Last Morh Gandhinagar. Later the Minister inspected the works going on at Indira Chowk on culvert costing Rs 9.50 lakh. He instructed the concerned agency to complete the work within shortest possible time. During his visit Mr. Charak directed the concerned authorities not to allow parking of vehicles at Parade to avoid traffic jamming which poses great inconvenience to the passers by particularly students of adjacent educational institutions. The Minister instructed the engineers to initiate measures for beautification of Rameshware Mandir chowk and Shalimar Chowk by raising of the land and ornament trees plantation at these places. He also directed the engineers to complete all macadamization works, patchwork on all roads of the city soon. Superintending Engineer R&B Jammu-Kathua circle Mr. O. K. Chadgal, Executive Engineer R&B Mr. K. D. Slathia and other senior officers of the concerned department were accompanied the Minister.
