Bid to smuggle bovines foiled, five held

A bid to smuggle bovines from Jammu to Srinagar was foiled today at Batote with the arrest of five persons and recovery of 14 bovines from their vehicles.
According to reports, five persons traveling in two different trucks were carrying 14 bovines from Jammu to Srinagar. Police on the receipt of information laid a naka on National Highway and recovered all the bovines from the two trucks bearing registration no JK02A-6993 and JK02A-2405. All the persons traveling in the trucks were arrested along with the seizure of the trucks. Those arrested have been identified as Harbans Singh son of Lekh Singh of R S Pura, Prithvi Singh son of Jaswant Singh resident of Gadigarh, Kalu son of Qazi resident of Beli Charana, Maima Amin son of Nek Alam resident of Manwal and Chaman Lal son of Faqir Chand resident of Digiana. Meanwhile, all the accused were taken away to Police Station where they confessed of smuggling the bovines. A case in this regard has been registered.
