Manmohan is playing with fire, says Hari Om
3/26/2007 11:02:20 PM
Jammu, March 26
By yielding before the PDP and constituting a 8 member committee to look in the demand of troop cut and revocation of armed forces special powers act the Indian political establishment is playing with fire, state BJP vice-president & Spokesperson Prof. Hari Om today said here today.
Accusing the Prime Minister of compromising the Indian position in Jammu and Kashmir, Prof Hari Om said the very fact that the Prime Minister has constituted such a committee at the behest of the PDP, whose anti-India and pro-militant credentials are too well known, is a clear proof that the Congress at the Centre could go to any extent and barter away the national interests to save its coalition government in the state.
Prof Hari Om suggested that the approach adopted by the Union government to the demands of the PDP will surely demoralize the armed forces.
He said how could the Indian establishment think in terms of accepting such demands as have the potential of diluting the Indian sovereignty in Jammu and Kashmir and emboldening the seccessionist elements in Kashmir to create a situation that would only help them achieve their anti-India designs.
Prof. Hari Om said that the reports emanating from New Delhi in this regard are contradictory. He said while the Defence Minister has been saying that troops could be pulled back only after reviewing the whole security scenario in Kashmir, the Prime Minister and the Congress president are sending signals that they are not averse to the idea of accepting the PDP demands to save the Congress-led coalition government in the state, said the BJP spokesperson. He further said that the BJP has definite information to the effect that the UPA government has already ordered troops reduction in various parts of the state, including the highly militant-infested Doda, Poonch and Rajouri districts of Jammu region. He asked the powers- that- be in New Delhi to reject outright the PDP demands and further strengthen the war machine in Kashmir and else where in the state so that the terrorists and separatists are crushed with a heavy hard.
