3/26/2007 11:08:24 PM

Jammu, March 26
Brushing aside allegations of involvement of NC Legislator from Mendhar behind recent episode of communal tension in Mendhar town in Poonch district, Provincial president of National conference Ajay Sadhotra on Monday termed these as false and baseless maintaining that party had directed district President Poonch to submit a detailed report after assessing the ground situation.

“We are committed to uphold secularism at all costs and none of our workers or party leaders were involved in flaring up communal tension in Mendhar”,Sadhotra told reporters here on Monday.
“All these reports are based on set of allegations leveled by a political party and are not true.It is not the case, our party high command has strictly told each party worker to strengthen the fabric of secularism in the state and to co exit in harmony with out brethren, Sadhotra said here in Jammu during a press conference at party headquarters.Playing safe, Sadhotra avoided direct replies on teh issue admitting that teh tension has been diffused in Mendhar and there is no point in highlighting the issue. He however claimed that the said NC MLA in question had alsoplayed a crucial role in diffusing the tension in the area.
Earlier giving details of the party rally, to be held here on March 29,Sadhotra said Party chief Omar Abdullah would expose working of the coalition government on all fronts as they have failed to mitigate the sufferings of common masses.
He said party workers are upbeat and working hard to make it a big event.
Refering to problems of common masses, Sadhotra said por are reeling under price rise and the state government has failed to extend benefits by way of providing subsidy in the form of support prices to bring down rate of pulses and other essential commodities. He said, farmers in the state are worst sufferers as they have not received any compensation due to loss of crop in flash floods. Ration supply has been hit hard in the rural areas and poor are suffering but both the coalition partners are busy sorting out their own mess and are not paying heed to the miseries of the common masses on the ground. Problem of unemployment is taking threatening postures but state govt was not serious about it.
Commenting on the recent demand of PDP leader Mufti Mohd Sayeed to withdraw forces from the Kashmir valley, Mr Sadhotra said PDP was playing with the emotions of the state populace. Every time they pick an issue with an aim to exploit their sentiments and later they surrender and climb down from their stated position. He reffered to PDP demand of abolishing SOG saying that what happened to their tall promises. SOG is still there and demand of demilitarization would also meet same fate, he said adding that there is nothing new in their behaviour.
They had failed to fulfill all their promises made out in the common minimum programme and now they are trying to befool people inorder to hide their failures.
