| Gujjar convention held | | | Kathua March 26
A one-day Gujjar Convention was hied at Raj Bagh Kathua where former Power Minister and MLC Mohd Sharief Niaz was the Chief Guest and also presided over the convention.
On the occasion, Niaz was felicitated warmly and a turban was presented to him.
Through a charter of demand the organizers demanded that all the Gujjar basties in Kathua distt be electrified, drinking water schemes, schools, urdu teachers, besides , veterinary and sheep husbandry hospitals be opened, Roads, lanes, drains and protection bunds constructed in Gujjar basties. Gujjars in Distt. Kathua have been neglected in every field. People demanded that lAY Scheme be sanctioned for poor Gujjar families. They also demanded Community centers in all Gujjar basties sanctioned and rates of milk be increased.
Niaz, in his address assured that he will take all these demands and problems with Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, concerned ministers and the heads of the departments.
Those who spoke on the occasion were Lal Mohd Sabir MLC, Ch. Mohd Hanief Captain Prem Singh, Ch. Guizar, Ch. Karam Din Advocate, Ch. Sher Mohd, Ch. Ab. Gani , Sh. Krishan Chand Sapolia, Ab. Rehman Rather and others.
