| Court rejects bail application of SSP’s brother in law | | | Srinagar, March 26 Special Judge Anticorruption Kashmir Suresh Sharma today rejected the bail application of Aijaz Ahmed Lala, en employee of Santour Lake View Hotel Srinagar and brother-in-law of suspended SSP Mustaq Ahmed Keenu. The accused, according to SVO, has acquired property disproportionate to his known source of income through corrupt means. While dismissing the application of the accused for grant of bail Suresh Sharma, after hearing both the sides, in which SVO submitted that the investigation is at preliminary stage and if the bail is granted to the accused it will hamper the investigation. Court considered the view point of the SVO and rejected the bail application. According to the Vigilance Organization Aijaz Ahmed Lala an employee of Santour Lake View Hotel Srinagar belonging to Hotel Corporation of India Limited came under the scanner of the SVO when a police truck loaded with building material was seized at Roop Nagar Jammu from his construction house. According to SVO, Lala owned a house at Raj-Bagh Srinagar in his own name which has been converted into hotel Lee-Lords, besides this, the accused having 10 kanals of land at Hari Pura Harwan Srinagar converted into a cheery garden and one Kanal and five Marlas of land in Lakshmi Puram Chinore Jammu on which construction of residential house is under progress. After the verification, the source of income available to accused Lala was his salary. The assets found in possession of the accused are disproportionate to his known source of income and a case under Prevention of Corruption Act was registered. The accused filed bail application before the Special Judge Anticorruption Kashmir which was dismissed.
