A deputations of the J&K SRTC (GTU) Pensioners Welfare Association, led by its president Ajit Singh Adyal along with Bishember Dass Sharma, S.Salakhan Singh, Badhan Singh and Mohammed Sharieff Quereshi called on MLC R.S.Chib and demanded early payment of 34 slabs of COLA sanctioned in 64th Board meeting of J&K SRTC the deputations demanded that appropriate COLA arrears, leave salary and all others sorts of pending payments be made in respect of pensioners and those who have already passed away.
According to press release the members also appreciated the over all steps taken by the Government headed by Gulam Nabi Azad for the betterment of employees of J&K SRTC, and urged upon R.S. Chib to draw the attention of the Government in respect of demands of the pensioners of (GTU) and those who were suffering since January 1999 onwards, the concerned authorities including the state government in order to find out ways and means for payment of COLA and dearness compensation to SRTC employees pensioners and also release of time to time dearness allowances so that such problems do not take place in future. Chib said that there is utmost need to review the state transport in the interest of public sector specially keeping in view the role of J&K SRTC in promoting tourism and providing transportation to masses and defence sector.
