| Largest bridge over River Brangi to come up soon: Peerzada | | | Kokernag, March 27 Work on construction of 3 Km long bridge over River Brangi near Soaf Shali in Anantnag district, the longest span bridge of the state, would be started soon involving a cost of Rs 17 crore which on completion would connect dozens of villages of Kokernag. This was disclosed by Minister for Education, Haj and Auquaf, Peerzada Moahmmed Sayeed while addressing a mamooth public gathering at Kokernag today. He said that government is considering to open a degree college at Kokernag in view of its hilly terrain and trekking of long distance by the students of the areas for receiving higher education. For the purpose, land is being identified and Central government’s approval has already been received, he added. Regarding provision of medicare facilities, the Minister said that work on construction of Kokernag Sub District Hospital is in progress at a cost of Rs 4 crore, adding that work on Kishtiwar-Samthan road would be started soon which would connect Kishtiwar with valley. Besides work on Wadwan road would be started within a couple of months. Referring to unemployment, Peerzada said that Industrial complex spread over an area of 100 kanals would be established at Brang which provide employment avenues under Industrial sector. He said another 106 Anganwari centres are being opened in the area. The Minster also gave away cheques amounting Rs 23.50 lakh under IAY to 197 beneficiaries of Kokernag for construction of housing units. Earlier, a number of deputations met the minister and apprised of their problems which include representatives of Daily wagers of Wool and Sheep Development Board and other individual and collective deputations. The Minister assured appropriate action on their demands.
