| Lt.Gen Rajender flags off ‘Run for Fun’ | | | Udhampur, March 27
As a prelude to 4th Military World Games (MGW) being held at Hyderabad from October 14-21 years, a ‘RUN FOR FUN’ was organized at Udhampur military station today which was flagged off from Dhruva Golf course by Lt Gen Rajender Singh, Chief of Army Staff, HQ Northern Command. It aims to promote health awareness and to highlight importance of adopting a healthy life style. Over 2000 serving personnel, ladies and children participated in the event and showed great enthusiasm and ran with full zest and zeal. People from all walks of life turned up in large numbers to encourage the participants. Children in the age group between five to eighteen years competed with each other.
The run was conducted in three different categories. The 5 KM run was for all persons above 18 years, second category of 2.5 km was for all persons while the last category of 400 metres was for children below three years. Gnr Sombir Singh of 323 AD Regt stood first in the 5 Km category, Master Amit Kumar stood first in the 2.5 Km category and Master Subham Kumar stood first in 400 m category.
