| DM initiates inquest into death of Jawan in custody | | | Leh Mar 27
District Magistrate Leh has initiated an inquiry into the death of an Army who was found hanging in police Lockup in suspicious circumstances yesterday
Informed sources said that the inquest has been initiated under176 Cr PC into the death of an Army personal in police custody. The Army jawan was arrested by police on Mar 25 when a Police patrolling party found him laying in intoxicated condition. The patrolling Party after getting his medically at SNM hospital Leh put him behind the bars as he did not disclose his name or full particulars.
Later he was identified as Tsegring Tundup; resident of Likir was serving in Army 3rd Infantry Division Kharu Leh.
However, on the next morning he was found hanging from the iron grill of the lockup by the string of his trouser.
Considering the suspicious circumstances in which the person was found dead, proceeding under section 176 Cr PC has been initiated by D M Leh.
Postmortem of the dead body has already been conducted.
