| Another soldier commits suicide | | | Srinagar Mar 27
An army jawan committed suicide, while he was on guard duty, by shooting himself with his service weapon at BB Cant Srinagar, here today.
Official sources said that Sepahi Saurwan Singh (No. 1o197073) of Dogra Regiment was on duty at one of the LMG Post inside the BB Cant Srinagar, when he shot himself dead with his service rifle.
A police spokesman said that the cause behind the suicide could not be ascertained; however, police has initiated proceedings and started investigation.
The number of such incidents among the armed forces has considerably increased in recent years. As per official record more than a dozen soldiers have committed suicide this year, while about one hundred soldiers take such extreme step every year.
