| Newly discovered cave shrine to be brought on tourism map: DDC | | | Rajouri, March 27 To create infrastructure development in the holy shrine of Mankote seven Km from Rajouri on Rajouri- Poonch national highway, District Development Commissioner Rajouri Mr. Parvez Malik today visited the holy cave shrine discovered in 2005. He was accompanied by senior district officers including Additional District Development Commissioner, Additional deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner and Engineers of R&B. The holy cave shrine excavated with idol of Lord Shiva and his family is being visited by a large number of pilgrims since its discovery in 2005. The cave is 130 feet deep and 3 feet wide in natural setting. A committee comprising of 101 members, of which 50 are Muslims is looking after the shrine. The DDC along with his team of officers during his visit to the sacred place and found marvelous splendor inside the cave shrine. He issued instructions to the officers concerned to come up with a comprehensive plan for construction of a bridge over Sukh Tao Nalla in Thandi Kassi and a park. He also called for formulating a plan for developing beautiful park in the premises of shrine and electricity and drinking water facilities to the pilgrims. He asked for construction of pilgrim sheds on way side to facilitate the pilgrimage which would be sent to the higher authorities for appropriate approval. He said the matter would also be taken up with the tourism department for bringing this sacred place on the map of tourism. He said that with the creation of these facilities not only the pilgrims will get benefited but the people living in the vicinity of the shrine shall also get advantage.
