3/27/2007 11:32:37 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORTER
JAMMU | MAR 27
BJP spokesman, Ramesh Arora in a statement has leveled serious charges against the working of state Public distribution system.
He alleged that the officials are charging one rupee more on subsided food provided by Union government, adding that atta is sold at Rs 7.60 instead of Rs. 6.60 while Rs. 9.50 is charged for rice instead of Rs.8.50.
According to the press release, Arora has demanded immediate improvement in ration distribution system in Jammu city and to adjoining areas.
Arora said that only 38 percent of atta is provided to public but it is claimed by the government that they have sufficient stock despite scarcity like situation prevailing in the market.
He said genuine dealers should get immediate supply of ration from the department which is delayed and as a result 86363 ration card holders are unable to get the ration in time due to deficiency in supply.
