3/27/2007 11:35:44 PM
Jammu, March 27
Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on Tuesday created ripples here in the power circles as he brought together all other constituents of the coalition govt under one roof and raised a demand before the centre asking it to consider viewpoint of all other partners before taking any final decision on the issue of setting up of committee to look in to the PDP demand of demilitarization.
The crucial meeting was attended by JKPP legislator Balwant SinghMankotia,PDF leader Mohd Hakeem Yasin and CPI leader along with legisaltors of the congress party at the residence of chief Minister.
The timing of the meeting assumed significance because it came a day after PDP PatronMuftiMohd Sayeed reportedly conveyed to UPA chairperson that cong-PDP coaliton was facing hiccups in the state and Azad was not adhering to coalition dharma.

Highly placed sources told Kashmir Independent Press on Tuesday evening, during the meeting chief minister, apparently unhappy with the PDP patrons complaint to UPA chairperson that coalition was facing hiccups and was not running smooth, told all the legislators that only PDP with a total strength of 18 MLA’s cannot dictate terms to the centre. "the state assembly has a total strength of 87 legislators and the opinion of all others should also be accommodated before taking any crucial decision in this regard." chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad was quoted by senior congress leaders having said this during the meeting.
Congress sources said, Chief Minister informed the legislators that when he recently visited New Delhi ahead of meeting between Prime Minister and Mufti Mohd Sayeed he was told by centre leadership that troop reduction was not possible at this point of time as the sitaution on the ground doesnot warranted such a move.
Chief Minister, according to sources had categorically taken a tough stand against any move of demilitarization as demanded by PDP.
According to sources, CM infotmed party legislators that his meeting was followed by statements from defence Minister declining demand of troop cut.On the occaison leaders belonging to other constiutents also supported view point of chief Minister indicating that the ongoing crisis between the cong-PDP were far from over.
