| Harsh Dev files objections over news districts | | | Jammu: 28 March 28 Harsh Dev Singh, Former Minister and NPP MLA Ramnagar has filed his objections before the cabinet sub-committee constituted to review the recommendations of the Demarcation Committee with regard to creation of new Districts and Tehsils and re-organization and demarcation of the boundaries of existing administrative units. He objected to the proposal of the Demarcation Committee with regard to segregation and exclusion of Chani Mansar Patwar halqa from Majalta tehsil and called upon the Cabinet sub-committee to ensure the retention of Chani Mansar patwar halqa in Majalta tehsil in order to meet the aspiration of the people inhabiting the said area. Making out a strong case for inclusion of Chani Mansar in Majalta Tehsil and in District Udhampur, Mr. Singh pointed out that majority of the offices of Majalta Block are located in Mansar area which included among others the BDO Office, PHE Sectoral Officer, Horticulture Office, Tourism Office, Wild Life & Forest etc. including infrastructure for the said offices having been raised in Mansar area. Mr. harsh Dev Singh further pointed out that Mansar is a place of religious pilgrimage with thousands and lacs of devotees performing their religious ceremonies at the said place. The people of Majalta Tehsil in particular and of District Udhampur in general had an emotional and cultural bondage with Mansar and hence it’s exclusion could create great unrest and resentment amongst the general public besides hurting their religious sentiments. Mr. Singh further pointed out that Mansar is the only tourist place in Majalta tehsil and in fact in entire District Udhampur and hence was required to be retained in it’s present form. Mr. Harsh Dev Singh said that in view of public sentiment attached with this holy and tourist place, people had strongly resented the proposed move of de-linking this area and had demanded it’s retention with District Udhampur and Majalta Tehsil. He urged upon the Cabinet Sub-Committee to review the said recommendation and ensure restoration of status quo and continuance of Chani Mansar in Majalta Tehsil forming a part of District Udhampur.
