JAMMU, Jan 12: A road safety awareness camp was organised today at Bishnah under its Civic Action Programme with an aim to promote road safety sense among people to reduce road accidents. The awareness camp was inaugurated by Shakeel Ahmed Beig, DIG Jammu -Samba -Kathua Range. While speaking on the occasion, Beig said that road users especially motorcyclists and pedestrians must know that road safety was every citizens responsibility as the fatal road accidents generally are caused by over speeding, over loading, use of mobile phones, drunken driving, poor condition of motor vehicles and rash & negligent driving. DIG Jammu further said that the these awareness camps on road safety shall also be organized in various towns of Jammu Range under Civic Action Programme with a view to inculcate sense of road safety among road users including transporters, drivers, pedestrian as well as students. The DIG Jammu was accompanied by Rajnish Pran, Staff Officer to DIG, Randhir Singh SP Hqrs. Parshotam Sharma, Dy. Director Prosecution, Prashant Mahajan, CPO, Diwakar Singh SDPO R.S.Pura. Large number of prominent citizens, transporters, drivers as well as students from various schools participated in the awareness camp. Later, he gave away the trophies to Aneet Kour of 11th class, Vanshika Kalgotra of 10th class and Ms Sonali Vaid of 10th of R.K.S. Girls Hr. Sec. School Bishnah who were declared 1st , 2nd and 3rd respectively in debate on road safety. |
