| NC to participate in Working Group meeting | | Group to discuss ‘Autonomy’, other important issues, Omar | | Jammu March 28 Jammu and Kashmir National Conference has decided to participate in the Working Group meeting on Centre-State relations being held at New Delhi tomorrow. Announcing this here today, the Party President Omar Abdullah said that ‘decision to this effect was taken at a high level meeting of senior party leaders in response to the Prime Minister’s letter’. The party in a hand out said that during the course of this meeting, telephonic consultations were also held with the party patron Dr Farooq Abdullah, who is currently overseas on an important assignment. Omar said that ‘party leadership considered and debated the PM’s letter and the assurance held by him’. He said ‘after due deliberations, the NC decided to participate in the Working Group in the interest of the people of the state as the Centre State Working Group meeting is going to discuss ‘Autonomy’ and certain important issues, which will have long term bearing on future of the State’, Omar said. ‘The decision to participate in the meeting can be and will be reviewed, if at any point of time, the party feels that the assured zero tolerance to Human Rights by the Prime Minister, is not adhered to in letter and spirit’, the NC President maintained. It may be recalled that barring one meeting, the National Conference, had, boycotted all the previous meetings held by several Working Groups set up by the Prime Minister.
