Baramulla, Mar 28 Army today claimed to have recovered an Improvised Explosive Device in a bus coming from Handwara to Baramulla during a routine search operation. Sources told News Agency of Kashmir that the bus bearing registration number JKO1 3797 coming from Handwara to Baramulla was stopped for routine checking by the troops of 46 R.R. During the search Jawans found an IED concealed in a rice cooker. The driver and conductor of the bus were arrested with other passenger and later handed over to Baramulla police. However, Passengers on board alleged a foul play saying ‘the bus was searched twice enroute but no IED was found in the bus during first search’. They said that it was on the second time that troops asked all the passengers to come down and arrested the Driver, Conductor and some passengers. Meanwhile, the driver has denied any such recovery from his bus and alleged that it was a hatched conspiracy against him. Sources informed that said that a passenger bus bearing registration number JKO1 3797 was coming from Handwara to Baramulla when it was intercepted by the troops of 46 R.R. during a routine checking troops claimed to have recovered an IED from the bus, Sources added. The driver Mushtaq Ahmed Khan son of Ghulam Rasool Khan told NAK that his bus was checked at two places by troops."There was no such IED in the bus during first search but at second checking point I along with my conductor were asked to get down by troops and later was told that there was an IED. I d don't know anything about it,” He added. Irshad Ahmed son of Ali Mohammed of Badarn Handwara was also arrested in this connection. The passengers of the bus were astonished when they heard troops alleging that they have recovered an IED from the bus. |
