| CDPA demands immediate redressal of problems | | | Jammu March 28
Reiterating its demand for payment of cash compensation at Rs. seven lakh each to 50 left over landless families of Chhamb Displaced Persons, S R Nagial President CDPA has urged the government to concede the demands enumerated in a detailed memorandum and submitted to the Chief Minister some time back.
Taking review of the progress made on these demands, the Association today held a meeting and hoped that all the pending issues would be sorted out in the meeting being held next month.
The Association among other things are demanding disbursement of cash compensation, forwarding supplementary list of left over families to the Centre for grant of additional funds, grant of occupancy rights over the evacuee land, 10 per cent reservation in colleges and professional institutions to the wards of Chhamb displaced persons and compensation to the families whose land has been acquired by SIDCO.
Some of the members at the meeting felt the need to approach the State Human Rights Commission for redressal of their long outstanding genuine demands.
Among others who spoke at the meeting included Sikander Lal, Sat Pal Sharma, Ram Rattan, Puran Chand and Khajur Chand. |
