| Hakim offers negotiation to SRTC Union for solving issues | | | Jammu, March 29 Minister for Transport Hakim Mohammad Yasin has called upon the Trade Unions of the State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) not to resort to strikes instead get their problems solved through negotiations. He has asked the SRTC striking employees to call off strike and resume normal work with out falling in the hands of vested interests. Yasin while discussing the issue of striking employees with a deputation of SRTC Union which called on him here today, assured that the genuine demands of the corporation employees would be addressed sympathetically adding that government is actively considering release pending salary of SRTC employees. He reminded them that the pay of the corporation employees was previously not being released even after six months while as it is now released regularly. He said that employment expansion made in the corporations has forced it to go on losses and now vigorous efforts are on to pull it out of red. He stressed upon the employees as well as officers of the corporation to adopt work culture and honest management affairs and endeavor to make it a profitable corporation. He emphasized the employees to resume their work. The Minister said that government intends to give a new shape to the corporation adding that the budgetary support has been increased for next financial year. He underlined the need to minimize the losses of the corporation as it is directly connected with the common people. He said that government has also initiated various measures aimed at making corporation profitable and result oriented saying that government is committed to streamline the functioning and strengthening of the infrastructure of the corporation.
