| 'Administrative collapse' responsible for people's miseries in valley: PDP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, Jan 24: Terming the government response in tackling the situation resulting out of the fresh snowfall as callous and ineffective, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Thursday said the administrative collapse has made the life of people miserable. In a joint statement issued the party General Secretary, Muhammad Dilawar Mir; senior party leader, Abdul Rehman Veeri and the Chief Spokesperson, Naeem Akhtar quipped that the government seems to have frozen in sub-zero temperatures that has brought immense problems to the ordinary people in absence of power, water and ration. PDP leaders stated the fresh bout of snow has exposed the government once again, which has been totally disconnected from the people and virtually unaware of the ground situation. They said though snow is not anything uncommon to the place like Kashmir, but every time few inches of snow would bury the inept government, which is the grave matter of concern in itself, given the fact people are badly suffering on various fronts because of the its sheer failure and insensitivity. The PDP leaders said most parts of the Valley, particularly South Kashmir are inaccessible and there have been no efforts to clear roads of snow, thus resulted into the tremendous problems to people particularly patients and students. Giving the example of Karmulla village in Tral, where a woman had to give birth to a baby on road, as she could not be reached to hospital on time due to snow bound roads and lack of transport in the area, and at Magam village in Kokernag, a 50 year old critical patient died as people were not able to get him hospitalized, they said such tragic incidents portray a sad commentary of the National Conference-led government's misrule and mismanagement, which has been only resorting to rhetoric's in the cosy rooms. The PDP leaders said the administrative response has been limited to the lip service only and its so-called preparedness plans have failed to meet the actual challenge, putting a question mark on the seriousness of the present dispensation towards people's issues. "The careless attitude of the government has resulted into the governance collapse in the state," they said adding the slow snow clearance operations have left a sad comment on the state of affairs prevailing in the state. They said the grim situation is adding to the people's woes and the ruling parties are not bothered about providing people any relief and present dispensation has miserably failed to devise any plan and strategy to tackle the situation. |
