| Former Minister alleges nexus between officials, local MLA | | Nepotism in Social Welfare Deptt Samba | | Et Report Vijaypur, Jan 24: Accusing local MLA of entering into unholy nexus with officials of Social Welfare Department, former Minister and senior Congress leader Manjit Singh today demanded probe into the alleged misuse of political influence in granting benefits of schemes in Social Welfare Department. Singh alleged that the benefits of social welfare schemes were being extended to the political workers and blue eyed of the local MLA at the cost of poor and deserving border residents due to nexus between MLA and the officials of the SWD, thereby putting crores of welfare funds to misuse. He said that there were many cases in which pensions were recommended to the people without proper verification which is dire need under the scheme. "Deserving people have been ignored, while people having political affiliation are given benefits of the schemes in Social Welfare," he alleged, while saying that the officials without getting nod from local MLA in Vijaypur do not grant benefits of schemes to the people. He also alleged that the beneficiaries were being forced by the SWD officials to go to the residence of the MLA for paying gratitude and reverence for getting their due. Demanding probe into the alleged nexus, Manjit singh said, ' Govt. schemes have been used to gain political mileage and it needs to be investigated". |
