| Governor exhorts scientists to devise strategy for optimim productivity | | | JAMMU, MARCH 29 Governor Lt. Gen. (Retd) S K Sinha today exhorted agricultural scientists to devise strategies in tone with gronomic, climatic and environmental conditions of the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir for realizing the objective of optimum crop yield. Chairing the16th council meeting of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture Scies, Kashmir here this morning, the Governor lauded the technological inputs being made by SKUAST to the agriculture sector which has increased production and productivity. General Sinha appreciated the efforts of the State Government for expeditiously transferring over 1000 kanals of land free of cost to SKUAST Kashmir for establishment of Forestory College and hoped that further financial support would be made available for infrastructural development and advanced research. He also referred to the Rajiv Gandhi Chair established in the University, hoping that adequeate funds would be made available by the University Grants Commission for research purposes. Vice Chancellor SKUAST Kashmir and Jammu, Prof Anwar Alam and Prof Nagendra Sharma, Principal Secretary to Governor Dr Arun Kumar and Commissioner/l Secretary, Finance, B B Vyas were among those present in the meeting. Prof Alam dwelt on the activities undertaken by the university in various academic and research fields and referred to the infrastructural development. The meeting took various decisions for effective implementation of various programmes. |
