| NACO employees to go on strike from Jan 30 | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 27: The much anticipated flagship program of government of India to control the HIV and AIDS in the country is all set to receive a major setback as the employees of the All India National AIDS Control organization has decided to go on indefinite strike from 30th of this month. If the employees of the association in India working in different states of the country have decided to go ahead with proposed strike call, there will be a direct impact on over 50 lac HIV/AIDS patients throughout the country including over 6000 patients of Jammu and Kashmir. As per the details available with All the employees of Jammu and Kashmir associated with Department of National AIDS Control Organization on the call given by the All India AIDS Control Employees Association has decided to go on indefinite strike from 30th of January 2014 in support of their demands with regard to regularization of their services, enhancement of pay at par with central government employees, Medical EPF, Insurance facility, leaves at par with government employees, 2 & ½ day salary, revoke of 4th phase salary order dated 9-01-2014, re-fixation of salary by keeping a difference between a senior and junior employees, 4th phase salary benefits with effect from April, 2012, yearly increments. They also slam the NACO authorities for enhancement of pay in un-rationalize manner wherein the pay of some employees were enhanced by 50 to 60% while in some cases it is merely 8 to 10% in other cases. They also take exception of enhancement of pay of driver grade employees which is more than the field employees including counselors/technicians/data managers/ who are much qualified than the said post. In a press statement issued by state president J&K State AIDS Control Employees Association Shahnawaz Ahmed said that the association has already preyed upon the higher authorities for immediate revocation of 4th phase salary order which is not in the interest of hard working employees of the department. He said that the association has given sufficient time to the concern authorities for accepting and implementation of the demands. He also said that the employees are yet to get the benefits of pay enhancement order issued in the year 2009. He said that in case the department revokes the order till 30th of this month, the association will withdraw the strike call and added that in case the authorities stick to its anti association agenda, the association will go ahead with its strike call. The association urged upon the honorable Union Minister for Health Ghulam Nabi Azad to look into the demands of the employees on top priority so that the employees will reconsider its decision of indefinite strike. |
