Srinagar, Jan 27 : A local court here today convicted three persons, six years after 31 kilograms of Charas (contraband) was recovered from them by Police. Observing that prosecution has proved guilt against the accused, Principal Session's Judge Srinagar Mohammad Shafi Khan convicted Feroz Ahmad Lone son of Abdul Hamid of Wazir Bagh Srinagar, Mohammad Shakoor Khatana son of Mohammad Hassan Khatana of Rajouri and Mohammad Ayoub Wani son of Mohammad Sultan Wani of Sumbal. The trio were arrested in connection with a case FIR 03 of 2008, CIK kashmir. As per prosecution, based on specific information, CIK Kashmir carried out a raid at Panthachowk in outskirts of Srinagar in February 2008 and arrested driver (Feroz). On his instructions, two remaining accused were arrested. Based on their instructions, Charus weighing 31 kilograms was recovered from the vehicle-Taveera. The charus was concealed in the body of the vehicle and was seized at PCR Srinagar. Subsequently, chargesheet was filed and after examining 10 witnesses and other evidence by the prosecution, the court found them guilty of the offence under 20/28/29 NDPS Act. The court posted the case for announcing quantum of sentence on January 30. |
