Sports Reporter JAMMU, Jan 27: Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) today announced its 20-member team for the upcoming 68th National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy to be held at two different venues from January 30 onwards. To begin with, the zonal level competition shall take place at Delhi and the J&K team shall be leaving for the venue tomorrow. The next round for the two qualifying teams from each zone shall be held at Siliguri in West Bengal. “In the initial round of the competition, J&K shall take on Uttar Pradesh in the opener on January 31, followed by the second match of group-B against Punjab on February two. In another match, J&K meets Himachal Pradesh on February four,” vice president of JKFA, Surinder Singh Bunty said. In other another group-A, Delhi, Uttrakahnd, Haryana and Chandigarh shall be playing against each other for qualification to the next round. The second round of the competition is scheduled to be held at Siliguri from February 26. Earlier, before the final selection of the 20-member team the probable underwent a coaching camp at GGM Science College ground, here. The team wished success by vice-president of the Association, Dr Nirmolak Singh, SM Gill and Narinder Gupta, both members of the Association. Meanwhile, president of the Association, Zameer Ahmed Thakur complimented the team for the positive approach and hoped for an improved performance from the boys this time. The team is accompanied by Abdul Majeed Kakroo as coach, Majid Yousuf Dar as manager and Dr Karran Nayyar as physiotherapist. In the meantime, in a message forwarded to SAN, international footballer from the state and ONGC staffer, Arun Malhotra too extended good wishes to the team amidst expectations of playing in the second round at Siliguri.
