Sports Reporter JAMMU, Jan 27: Manhas Club Pallanwala clinched the title trophy in the open volleyball tournament, organised by the Sehyog Committee, Bari Brahmana on Republic Day at Peer Baba ground, Industrial Estate, Bari Brahmana, near here. In the well contested final, Manhas Club Pallanwala outplayed Territorial Army 157 3-2 with score being 19-25, 25-23, 25-21, 23-25, 15-11. Earlier, in the semifinals, Manhas Club defeated Raman Club 3-1 (25-19, 23-25, 25-18, 28-26) while TA 157 trounced Ramgarh Club in straight but close sets of 25-21, 25-18, 25-23. In the final and prize distribution function, former Minister, Surjit Singh Slathia was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies and other individual prizes. The chief guest presented Rs 11,000 cash prize to the skipper of winning Manhas Club, Gourav Singh. The runners-up team got Rs 8100 cash prize. Prominent among others present were Dharam Paul, Karam Paul and Bhagwan Dass. The matches were officiated by the technical penal including Uttam Sharma, Shashi Sharma and Sunil Sharma. |
