Jammu, Jan 27: Suman Gupta, a senior artist belonging of J&K State, shall be showcasing his two new works in the sixth edition of India Art Fair (IAF) commencing from January 30, 2014 in New Delhi.
Suman Gupta's works Edge of the river and View from the room created especially for this event will be displayed at the main booth of India Art fair. Suman Gupta paints landscapes, but for him the hills, rivers and the forests are not merely physical spaces to be consumed for their beauty but become sites for ideological interrogation of socio-political concerns in a seamless, non-intrusive fashion.
The landscapes are locales where leitmotifs such as hope for peace, Utopian dreams-capes, loss of innocence, and millenarianism; as the vertical intrusion of the sublime in the horizontal flux of cyclical time and play out. Recipient of the prestigious "Lorenzo IL Magnifico"for his "Untitled" work at Florence Biennial, Italy and National award by Lalit Kala academy, New Delhi he was Invited to show his work at the India special exhibition at 5th"Beijing International Art Biennale" in China in the year 2012. |
